Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places over most parts of the island in the evening or night. Heavy falls about 100 mm can be expected at some places in Sabaragamuwa, Central, Western and North-western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa and Western provinces during the morning.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
On the apparent northward relative motion of the sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during 05th to 14th of April in this year.
Alleged hoons charged
THREE men will appear at the Frankston Magistrates Court after being charged with offences dating back three years.
On 2 April, police charged a 21-year-old Cranbourne man with 54 offences relating to nine hoon events across the Cranbourne area in the last three years. Charges laid include reckless conduct endangering life, possess MDMA, and possession of an imitation firearm.
An 18-year-old Cranbourne man was charged with 12 offences including reckless conduct endangering life and incitement. A 20-year-old Cranbourne West man was also charged with 12 offences including conduct endangering life and conduct endangering serious injury.
Two vehicles have been seized by police as part of their investigation. They allege that the two Holden sedans were involved with “high-risk driving events”. The three men were bailed to appear at Frankston Magistrates’ Court on 17 November.

The process of giving an allowance of Rs. 5,000 to selected categories including Samurdhi recipients and low income earners commenced this morning. This is against the backdrop of some Grama Niladhari and Samurdhi Officer Trade Unions stating that they will not support it.
The Sri Lanka Grama Niladhari Association stated that they are withdrawing from the payment of the allowance of Rs. 5,000 due to the irregularity of this program.
However, the President of the Sri Lanka United Gampaha Grama Niladhari Association Keerthi Tissa stated that the payment of Rs. 5,000 will be made by the officials of his association.
